Unless you’re one of those crazy freaks that protested “Rogue One” because it featured a female lead and included a too-diverse cast that threatened your privilege and male dominance in the world, every reasonable person on the planet is rooting for a “Wonder Woman” movie to work. Not necessarily because you’re a huge fan of the character, though that works, but because it would be nice to see a superhero movie led by a female for once (because at the very least you appreciate some variety in your life).

But for whatever reason, “Wonder Woman” isn’t tracking that high, reportedly expected to debut to about $65 million in its opening weekend. (though there are some theories that claim “Wonder Woman” hasn’t been marketed as heavily as some male-centered super hero films and honestly, I’m open, but slightly skeptical to that claim). Then again, The Wrap has reported tracking as high as $105 million, so perhaps it’s anyone’s guess.
Suffice it to say, and back to the original point, let’s make way for more female-led super hero films because diversity is not only a welcome change of pace, there’s obviously a huge need for underrepresented voices out there — frankly, anyone who isn’t a white, cis males. I’m not so sure how I feel about the rather-silly lasso of truth (which was silly in the comics from the beginning) or the Zack Snyder-isms featured in the trailer, but at the end of the day, I, like many, probably just want the movie to succeed. Buy your tickets, people. Here’s the official synopsis in case you haven’t read it. It sounds like an origin story.
