Belated "New" Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! Song From 'The Great Buck Howard'

Do you remember “The Great Buck Howard” with the very respectable cast of John Malkovich, Emily Blunt, Colin Hanks, Tom Hanks, Griffin Dunne and Steve Zahn? Perhaps you don’t remember the tale which centered on a hopelessly passé, out-of-touch and totally past his prime magician/ mentalist (the titular character played by a very-hammy Malkovich), because it was extremely hokey, contrived and basically came and went in theaters.

What it did boast from a musical angle, if indie-rock is your thing, was a “score” from adenoidal Brooklyn rockers Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! which, uhh, turned out to be not a score at all, but two songs written specifically for the film (maybe more were composed, but that’s all that made it into the final version.

Well, someone has finally clipped the film’s closing-credits song, “Telling The Truth and Going Away” and put it on YouTube. It’s… ok. Has this band seen their day? There were rumors they were going to break up at one point. Eh, we’d rather just forget the whole thing, but here’s the song regardless.
