‘Blonde’ Trailer: Ana De Armas’ Marilyn Monroe Biopic Premieres At Venice & Debuts September 28 On Netflix

It feels like we’ve been waiting years and years for “Blonde,” director Andrew Dominik’s long-gestating, long-awaited Marilyn Monroe biopic, based on the bestselling novel by Joyce Carol Oates. Starring Ana de Armas as the blonde bombshell and Hollywood icon, “Blonde” boldly reimagines the life of Marilyn Monroe, exploring the split between her public and private selves. And it’s almost here. “Blonde” will make its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in late August/early September before releasing globally on Netflix on September 28.

To mark the occasion of its official entry into Venice, announced earlier this week, though suggested for over a year, Netflix has released a new trailer for the film following some new stills that were released yesterday.

The cast is pretty aces too and on top of de Armas, “Blonde” features Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale, Xavier Samuel, Julianne Nicholson, Lily Fisher, Evan Williams, Toby Huss, David Warshofsky, Caspar Phillipson, Dan Butler, Sara Paxton, and Rebecca Wisocky. Here’s the official synopsis:

Based on the bestselling novel by Joyce Carol Oates, Blonde boldly reimagines the life of one of Hollywood’s most enduring icons, Marilyn Monroe. From her volatile childhood as Norma Jeane, through her rise to stardom and romantic entanglements, Blonde blurs the lines of fact and fiction to explore the widening split between her public and private selves. Written and directed by Andrew Dominik, the film boasts a cast led by Ana de Armas and featuring Bobby Cannavale, Adrien Brody, Julianne Nicholson, Xavier Samuel and Evan Williams.

“Blonde” hits the Venice Film Festival, which starts August 31 and then it’s not a long wait for its September 28 Netflix debut, which hopefully comes with some kind of theatrical release for the hardcore cineastes. Watch the new trailer below.
