After more than 15 years and over a thousand episodes, Marc Maron’s wildly influential WTF Podcast is coming to an end. The timing makes the release of “Are We Good?” especially poignant: the new documentary from director Steven Feinartz captures Maron as he wrestles with endings, both personal and professional.
The film follows Maron through his raw reckoning with grief after the loss of the late filmmaker Lynn Shelton (“Sword of Trust”), while also digging into his shifting place in the comedy world. Alongside intimate new footage, the doc revisits some of WTF’s most iconic moments, including conversations with President Barack Obama, Andrew Garfield, and Patton Oswalt.
A who’s who of comics—Nate Bargatze, John Mulaney, David Cross, Michaela Watkins, W. Kamau Bell, and more—appear throughout, offering perspective on Maron’s impact and what comes next as he pivots back toward acting and stand-up.
Premiering at SXSW and Tribeca earlier this year, “Are We Good?” is produced by Steven Feinartz, Julie Seabaugh, and Ethan Goldman, with a large team of executive producers behind it.
“Are We Good?” opens October 3 in New York and Los Angeles, with nationwide theatrical events on October 5 and 8. Watch the official trailer below.
