‘Lucky’ Trailer: Anya Taylor-Joy Goes On The Run In Apple TV’s Heist Thriller

Anya Taylor-Joy stars as a con artist pursued by the FBI and a crime boss in Apple TV’s seven-episode limited series.

There are worse places for a con-artist thriller to start than a multi-million-dollar heist gone wrong. Apple TV has unveiled the teaser trailer for “Lucky,” a new seven-episode limited series starring and executive produced by Anya Taylor-Joy, and the hook is blunt enough: take the money, run for your life, and hope the people chasing you do not get there first.

Based on the New York Times bestselling novel and Reese’s Book Club pick by Marissa Stapley, the series follows Lucky, a con artist forced to go on the run after a high-stakes robbery collapses. Apple’s synopsis says she is pursued by both the FBI and a ruthless crime boss, leaving her to fight for survival and search for a way out.

Taylor-Joy leads a cast that gives the series a sturdy crime-drama spine. “Lucky” also stars Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Drew Starkey, Clifton Collins Jr., and William Fichtner, which suggests Apple is positioning the limited series as a glossy, star-driven thriller rather than a disposable streaming detour.

The creative team is just as notable. “Lucky” hails from Apple Studios and Hello Sunshine, with Jonathan Tropper serving as co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer alongside co-showrunner and executive producer Cassie Pappas. Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter executive produce for Hello Sunshine, Taylor-Joy executive produces through her LadyKiller banner, and Jonathan van Tulleken, who directed the pilot, also executive produces.

For Taylor-Joy, “Lucky” lands in familiar but promising territory: a lead role built around composure under pressure, danger closing in from multiple sides, and a character who has to think faster than everyone trying to corner her. The title may be “Lucky,” but the premise is really about what happens when luck runs out, and skill has to take over.
