‘Made in Korea’ Trailer: Hulu Unveils 1970s KCIA Crime Epic Starring Hyun Bin & Jung Woosung

Korean prestige television continues to expand into larger, bolder arenas, and Hulu’s latest entry taps directly into the era of political paranoia, espionage, and underworld ambition. The streamer has released the trailer for the upcoming K-drama “Made in Korea,” a 1970s-set thriller starring Hyun Bin and Jung Woosung, with a creative pedigree to match its sweeping scope.

The story centers on a KCIA climber navigating the shadows of power, and the trailer leans heavily on the tension between institutional loyalty and criminal opportunity. Hulu positions the series as an operatic collision between ambition, corruption, and an unyielding pursuit of justice.

The platform underscores both the character’s dual nature and the heightened era that shapes him. As Hulu describes it, “Made in Korea” follows Baek Kitae, “an ambitious KCIA agent who’s living a double life. Driven by his thirst for power, Kitae works as an agent by day and a smuggler by night.” The synopsis continues: “Smart, suave, cunning and capable, Kitae rapidly moves up the ranks after using his smuggling operation to consolidate power, protect his brother, and generate vast sums of money for the agency. Seemingly unstoppable, only one thing stands in his way — a tenacious prosecutor who can’t be reasoned with, bought or bribed.”

The cast is stacked, pairing Hyun Bin and Jung Woosung with Woo Dohwan, Cho Yeojeong, Seo Eunsoo, Won Jian, Jung Sungil, Kang Gilwoo, Roh Jaewon, Lily Franky, and Park Yongwoo. Behind the camera, the series is written by Park Eunkyo and Park Joonseok, directed by Woo Min-ho, and produced by Hive Media Corp — the team behind political and crime hits such as “Inside Men,” “The Man Standing Next,” and “12.12: The Day.
