Netflix has found its Thanksgiving IMAX movie, and it is a major cinephile swing: Brad Pitt back as Cliff Booth, David Fincher behind the camera, and Quentin Tarantino on the script.

“The Adventures Of Cliff Booth” will open in IMAX theaters on November 25 for a two-week run before arriving on Netflix on December 23, 2026, the streamer announced today. The film brings Pitt back to the role that won him the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Tarantino’s “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood,” though this time, the story has moved from the fading glow of 1969 to the industry churn of 1977.
The IMAX slot had previously belonged to Greta Gerwig’s “Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew,” which recently shifted out of Thanksgiving and into February 2027. That opened up a premium holiday corridor for Netflix, and the streamer is now using it for one of its most intriguing filmmaker-star packages.
The cast also includes Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Peter Weller.
Tarantino created Cliff Booth as Rick Dalton’s stuntman, driver, fixer, and half-mythic Hollywood shadow in “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.” Pitt played him with an easy, almost dangerous calm, turning a character surrounded by rumor into one of the film’s greatest pleasures. Tarantino never really intended to direct the film, and once Fincher came aboard with his blessing, Netflix became the natural home, given Fincher’s ongoing relationship with the streamer.
That relationship has already produced “Mank,” “The Killer,” “Mindhunter,” and “Love, Death & Robots.” “The Adventures Of Cliff Booth” gives it a different kind of current. It’s a Tarantino character filtered through Fincher’s colder, more controlled sensibility, with Pitt returning to a role that was memorable because the film never explained him too much.
For Netflix, the theatrical play could also point to an awards run. The streamer has remained selective about which films get a real big-screen push, and a Thanksgiving IMAX run gives “The Adventures Of Cliff Booth” event positioning before it becomes a streaming premiere a month later.
