A test designed to strip you down to instinct is brutal enough on its own. But in “War Machine,” the final stage of U.S. Army Rangers selection becomes something else entirely, when a training exercise stops feeling controlled and starts feeling hunted.
Netflix has unveiled a trailer for the film ahead of its March 6, 2026, release on the service, teeing up a contained pressure-cooker premise that pivots from endurance trial to fight-for-your-life escalation.

Logline: During the final stage of U.S. Army Ranger selection, an elite team’s training exercise turns into a fight for survival against an unimaginable threat.
The film is directed by Patrick Hughes, who also co-wrote the screenplay with James Beaufort. With the setup locked to a single crucible—an elite group in the most punishing stretch of selection—the story’s engine is straightforward: when the mission goes sideways, discipline and toughness stop being goals and become the only tools left.
The cast is led by Alan Ritchson, with Dennis Quaid, Stephan James, Jai Courtney, Esai Morales, Blake Richardson, Keiynan Lonsdale, and Daniel Webber also starring. The trailer leans on the idea of cohesion under strain—an “elite team” premise in which the external threat is only part of the equation, because the real friction comes when fear, fatigue, and uncertainty start corroding coordination.
On the producing side, Todd Lieberman and Alexander Young produce for Hidden Pictures, alongside Hughes and Greg McLean for HUGE FILM, with Rich Cook producing for Range. Executive producer is Valerie Bleth Sharp.
“War Machine” premieres on Netflix on March 6, 2026. Watch the first trailer below.
