Netflix has released the official trailer for “A Man on the Inside” Season 2, marking the return of Ted Danson as the endearingly awkward Charles Nieuwendyk in Mike Schur’s offbeat comedy about aging, empathy, and reinvention. The new season arrives on November 20 and follows the Emmy-nominated first chapter of the series, which was inspired by the Oscar-nominated documentary “The Mole Agent.”

This time, Charles goes undercover as a professor at Wheeler College to unmask a mysterious blackmailer targeting the university president (Max Greenfield). However, the case takes an unexpected turn when Charles meets Mona (Mary Steenburgen), a free-spirited music teacher whose zest for life rekindles feelings he thought he had long buried. As always in Schur’s universe, what begins as a procedural disguise becomes a meditation on compassion, forgiveness, and second chances.
The cast also includes Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Lilah Richcreek Estrada, Stephanie Beatriz, Gary Cole, Michaela Conlin, Lisa Gilroy, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Madison Hu, Sam Huntington, Jason Mantzoukas, Constance Marie, Linda Park, David Strathairn, and Jill Talley. Schur executive produces alongside Morgan Sackett, David Miner, Maite Alberdi, Marcela Santibañez, Julie Goldman, and Christopher Clements for Universal Television.
The eight-episode second season once again balances comedy with introspection, expanding the show’s world while deepening its emotional through-line. If Season 1 was about learning to see others clearly, Season 2 looks poised to ask whether Charles can finally see himself.
