There’s a version of Sherlock Holmes we all know by muscle memory: the cool-headed brain with a pipe, a plan, and a locked-in moral compass. But with “Young Sherlock,” Guy Ritchie seems eager to rewind the myth to the messy, combustible starting point—when genius was still reckless, ego was still untrained, and trouble didn’t need an invitation.

The 2026 Prime Video series stars Hero Fiennes Tiffin as a disgraced, raw, and unfiltered young Sherlock who finds himself pulled into a murder case that threatens his liberty. From there, the story reportedly expands into a globe-trotting conspiracy that reshapes his fate, while placing this future icon in 1870s Oxford and beyond, long before he becomes Baker Street’s most famous resident.
No need to pretend we’ve gleaned specifics from the footage, but the setup reads like prime Ritchie territory: big personality, sharp edges, momentum, and the promise of swaggering humor threaded through period intrigue. If his previous Holmes films leaned into pop spectacle and mischievous energy, this series appears poised to do something similar but younger, riskier, and more character-driven.
The ensemble includes Dónal Finn, Zine Tseng, Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone, Max Irons and Colin Firth. The series is written and executive produced by showrunner Matthew Parkhill, with a producing team that includes Dhana Gilbert, Marc Resteghini, Simon Maxwell, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Kelton, and Colin Wilson, as well as co-executive producers Harriet Creelman and Steve Thompson. Motive Pictures led physical production.
