Lee Raybon’s Tulsa beat isn’t over. FX has renewed the shaggy detective neo noir “The Lowdown” for a second season, with production set to begin in Tulsa this spring.
Created by Sterlin Harjo (“Reservation Dogs”), the series stars Ethan Hawke as Raybon, a self-described “truthstorian” whose obsession with uncovering corruption keeps pulling him into trouble — and away from being the father he aspires to be.

That push-pull was a big part of what made the first season click, with a blend of humor, hard-boiled detective mystery, and empathetic soul, with a little Hal Ashby thrown in for good measure. As we put it in our review, “Truth is slippery, community secrets curdle, and even good intentions sour fast in Tulsa’s heat.” And the show’s critical run has followed: “The Lowdown” was named one of AFI’s Television Programs of the Year for 2025. It also landed on The Playlist’s Best TV of 2025 list.
Season one’s central hook tracked Lee’s latest exposé into the city’s power structure: after his deep dive into the Washberg family is published, the suspicious death of Dale Washberg sends Lee chasing breadcrumbs that suggest something darker than the official story. Alongside Hawke, the series also starred Keith David, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Kyle MacLachlan, Tim Blake Nelson, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Michael “Killer Mike” Render, and Kaniehtiio Horn, with Season one guest spots that included Peter Dinklage and the late Graham Greene.
It’s unclear who will return for season two beyond Hawke and probably Kiera Armstrong, who plays Raybon’s daughter and Horn, who plays his ex-wife, but Harjo has a knack for great casting, so any new players and guest stars are sure to be welcome.
The full first season is currently available to watch on Hulu. Watch the trailer below.
