Violence has a way of echoing in the woods. Apple TV’s new French-language thriller “The Hunt” (“Traqués”) opens on that primal fear — when predator and prey blur until no one knows who’s chasing whom. From César-nominated filmmaker Cédric Anger (“Next Time I’ll Aim for the Heart”), the six-part series stars Benoît Magimel and Mélanie Laurent and premieres globally December 3, 2025, with two episodes debuting that day followed by weekly releases through December 31.

Produced by Gaumont, the series follows Franck (Magimel) and a group of longtime friends whose quiet hunting weekend spirals into terror when another band of hunters turns on them without warning. After one of Franck’s friends retaliates and kills an assailant, they flee the scene and vow silence. But as guilt settles in, paranoia takes hold — and Franck begins to sense they’re being hunted in return.
Anger, who built his reputation on tense, character-driven crime dramas, directs and created the series. The ensemble includes Damien Bonnard, Manuel Guillot, Cédric Appietto, and Frédéric Maranber, alongside Angelyna Danabe-Mignot, Paul Beaurepaire, Yann Goven, Sarah Pachoud, and Patrick De Vallette. Executive producers Sidonie Dumas, Isabelle Degeorges, Clémentine Vaudaux, and Alexis Barqueiro shepherd the project for Gaumont, the studio behind “Lupin,” “Becoming Karl Lagerfeld,” and “Totems.”
“The Hunt” continues Apple TV’s commitment to prestige French storytelling following “Drops of God,” “Carême,” and “Liaison.” Anchored by Magimel — fresh from his Cannes-winning turn in “Pacifiction” — and Laurent, the series promises a visceral exploration of guilt, survival, and the violence people justify when fear takes over.
