Rumor: Alice Eve Bailed On 'X-Men: First Class' Role Because Her Role Was Reduced In Updated Script?

We’re not a big fan of propagating this rumor, but everyone seems to be addressing it (without any trace of cynicism, mind you), so we figured we’d weigh in (yes, if you jumped off a cliff, we would do it too if you’re gonna ask, smartass).

ComicbookMovie — the same site that reported Britney Spears was going to play Mystique in “X-Men: First Class” (they scrubbed that one off google quick, but it’s captured here), that Chris O’Donnell was confirmed for “Captain America” (gone from the site as well, but captured here), and in an IMDB-style, basically lets its readers post whatever they want — has another juicy rumor making the rounds.

So grain of salt and all that, but the site purports that Alice Eve — who was initially pegged to play Emma Frost, The White Queen in “X-Men: First Class,” only to be replaced with January Jones earlier this week — actually left the role because she was unhappy with changes in the script. She allegedly petitioned to get out of the role. And while we don’t want to add fuel to the fire, there have been several rewrites on “X-Men: First Class” this year, that’s on top of the four to five writers who have taken a pass at it.

Original reports had pegged that Eve’s deal to take the role simply didn’t take and then director Matthew Vaughn and his producers quietly moved on to the “Mad Men” starlet. Eve was considered for the love interest in “Captain America” earlier this year and CBM purports that Marvel will try and give her a small villain role in “The Avengers” and that Fox again wants her for “Fantastic Four Reborn” the new FF reboot. We suppose if that later bit comes to pass, we’ll know this report is correct, but until then, buyer beware. Gotta love how the article ends, “DISCLAIMER: This article was submitted by a volunteer contributor. ComicBookMovie also just pulled a “long interview with Christian Bale” from the site that seemed as if it was their own interview (wasn’t credited to another source and just had a byline). Did they make that up too?
