‘Enola Holmes 3’ Trailer: Millie Bobby Brown’s Detective Chases Her Most Treacherous Case To Malta

Millie Bobby Brown returns as Enola Holmes in the Netflix sequel, directed by “Adolescence” filmmaker Philip Barantini.

After two films of stepping out from under Sherlock Holmes’ long shadow, Enola Holmes is officially taking her detective work international. Netflix has released the official trailer for “Enola Holmes 3,” the next installment in the streamer’s mystery franchise led by Millie Bobby Brown, and this time, the case sends its young sleuth to Malta.

Brown returns as Enola Holmes, Sherlock’s equally brilliant younger sister, in a story that finds adventure chasing her abroad as her personal and professional ambitions begin to collide. The official logline teases “a case more tangled and treacherous than any she has faced before,” which should give the third film a slightly bigger canvas after 2020’s “Enola Holmes” and 2022’s “Enola Holmes 2” established the franchise’s mix of period mystery, YA adventure, and fourth-wall-breaking charm.

The sequel also brings a notable behind-the-camera change. Philip Barantini, the Emmy-winning director behind “Adolescence,” takes over the franchise for the first time, replacing Harry Bradbeer, who directed the first two films. It’s an intriguing shift, especially given Barantini’s recent profile and his knack for tightly wound, pressure-cooker storytelling. Jack Thorne, who wrote both previous “Enola Holmes” films and also collaborated with Barantini on “Adolescence,” returns to write the script.

The film is once again based on Nancy Springer’s “The Enola Holmes Mysteries” book series. Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Ali Mendes, Brown, Robert Brown, Michael Dreyer, and Thorne produce, with Joshua Grode, Jake Bongiovi, and Isobel Richards serving as executive producers. Legendary Entertainment and PCMA Productions produce the film.

The returning cast keeps the franchise’s central ensemble intact. Henry Cavill is back as Sherlock Holmes, Louis Partridge returns as Tewkesbury, Helena Bonham Carter reprises her role as Eudoria Holmes, Himesh Patel returns as Dr. John Watson, and Sharon Duncan-Brewster is back as Moriarty. The new chapter also keeps Enola’s relationship with Tewkesbury in play, with the private detective juggling the next stage of that romance alongside her latest mystery.

The “Enola Holmes” films have become one of Netflix’s sturdier family-adventure franchises, with Brown anchoring the series between “Stranger Things” seasons and Cavill bringing a more emotionally withdrawn spin to Sherlock. The third film now has a new setting, a new director, and a case designed to push Enola beyond the familiar terrain of London.

“Enola Holmes 3” releases globally on Netflix on July 1, 2026. Watch the trailer below.
