Uh oh! The nerd community is in an uproar. Just like last year’s “Iron Man” that featured Samuel L. Jackson/Nick Fury at the conclusion of the picture, the ‘easter egg’ (bonus scene after the credits) in “Iron Man 2” has been spoiled.
Some in the geek community are freaking out about it. Others are calling those freaks hypocrites (for this). Some are dancing around it carefully, and some are just dropping the spoiler at the bottom of their posts (we’ll totally admit, the internecine feuding is amusing to watch).
Frankly, we think we’re going to take that last tack too only because, well, now that we’ve seen it, it’s a) not that big of a deal and b) if you think logically which Marvel movie comes next, it’s very easy to discern which film they’d want to tease (we guess that’s a major spoiler). We haven’t seen “Iron Man 2” yet, but honestly the reviews we’ve skimmed don’t bode well. Not that we necessarily credit the bad reviews per se, but most of them say the film takes pains to drop references to “Thor” and “Captain America” at the expense of the narrative and honestly that sounds pretty obnoxious, but whatever. We had fun at the first one and we’re hoping this one will at least be semi-entertaining.Ok, maybe it won’t be genius – frankly, so far no Marvel film has been. “Iron Man” was tremendously entertaining and fun, but it still pales in comparison to, say, “The Dark Knight,” at least in this writer’s opinion.
After the jump you’ll see the “Iron Man 2” SPOILER. We’re not going to explain it, there’ll just be images and if you don’t get it well, then you’re thick. Don’t whine about it either, you have the choice to look away and it’s already out there everywhere. Last warning!
Great Odin’s raven! These guys are the bastards who spoiled it. The lesson learned here? There will never be secrets henceforth for movies ever. As you were.
