‘The Agency’ Trailer: Michael Fassbender's New Spy Series With Joe Wright Directing Hits Nov 29

Can a CIA agent rekindle his lost romance? “The Agency” looks at the consequences one faces over these unresolved feelings, leaving an uneasy balance between love and duty. The series is based on the French drama “Le Bureau des Légendes,” also known as “The Bureau.” George Clooney and Grant Heslov are executive producers through their production shingle Smokehouse Pictures.

Two-time Academy Award nominee Michael Fassbender stars as Martin, the conflicted CIA agent facing a difficult choice. The Academy Award nominee recently appeared in 2023’s psychological thriller “The Killer.” He’s also seen success with his production company, DMC Films. Their projects include Daniel Kaluuya’s directorial debut, “The Kitchen,” and “Calm with Horses.”

The star-studded “The Agency” cast also includes series regulars Jeffrey Wright, Jodie Turner-Smith, Katherine Waterston, John Magaro, Alex Reznik, Andrew Brooke, Harriet Sansom Harris, India Fowler, Saura Lightfoot-Leon, Reza Brojerdi, and Richard Gere. Hugh Bonneville is a guest star, and the recurring cast includes Adam Nagaitis, Ambreen Razia, Bilal Hasna, David Harewood, Kurt Egyiawan, Ray BLK, Sabrina Wu, and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor.

Jez and John-Henry Butterworth are writers and executive producers; Joe Wright is an executive producer and director for the first two episodes.

Paramount Global Co-CEO and President/CEO, Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios Chris McCarthy praised the actor as part of the series’ announcement. “Michael Fassbender is one of the most gifted actors of our time,” McCarthy said. “He brings a gravitas and nuanced complexity to every character he inhabits, which is why we are so excited for him to star in THE AGENCY as we start to roll out our new slate of SHOWTIME originals.”

A fresh take on the critically acclaimed hit French drama Le Bureau des Legendes, the all-new political thriller follows Martian (Michael Fassbender), a covert CIA agent ordered to abandon his undercover life and return to London Station. When the love he left behind reappears, romance reignites. His career, his real identity and his mission are pitted against his heart; hurling them both into a deadly game of international intrigue and espionage.
