Can romance and rivalry co-exist? Amazon’s upcoming film “Maintenance Required” tests the limits of love. The project features hallmarks of classic rom-coms, all the while creating a story that stands out. It sees Charlie, an all-female mechanic shop owner, facing fierce competition. She seeks solace in an anonymous online chat, but her new confidant could be closer than either expects. Lacey Uhlemeyer directs, co-writing the screenplay with Roo Berry and Erin Falconer. This marks Uhlemeyer’s first foray into fiction after previously directing the documentary “The Dancer.”

Madelaine Petsch, Jacob Scipio, Madison Bailey, Katy O’Brian, and Inanna Sarkis star, with Matteo Lane and Jim Gaffigan as part of the cast. Petsch had a long-running role on “Riverdale” and followed it up with 2024’s “The Strangers: Chapter 1.” Bailey comes to the project while starring on the hit series “Outer Banks.” The actress, much like Petsch, sees her filmography include horror genre titles like an episode of “Creepshow” and “American Horror Stories.”
The film’s official synopsis:
Charlie, the fiercely independent owner of an all-female mechanic shop, is forced to reevaluate her future when a flashy corporate competitor moves in across the street. Seeking comfort, she turns to an anonymous online confidant – unaware she’s confiding in Beau, the very rival threatening her business. As sparks fly both online and off, the truth threatens to blow everything apart.
