'Spin Me Round' Trailer: Alison Brie & Aubrey Plaza's Italian Getaway Is A Real Comedic Trip

Is the rom-com due for a transformation? The new film “Spin Me Round” thinks so. Having premiered earlier this at the film SXSW Film Festival, “Spin Me Round” stars Alison Brie as a woman whose business trip embraces romantic chaos. It also marks Brie’s second credit as co-writer — her first being the critically acclaimed “Horse Girl.” Both projects paired the actress with co-writer and director Jeff Baena

A key aspect of ‘Round’ is its focus on character development. The filmmaker and the writing duo find something special in creating understanding between audiences and the people that inhabit these stories. “For me, it’s making sure the characters track and that there’s depth to them, and that even the villains in a story are sympathetic,” Baena told the Los Angeles Times in the spring. “And that everyone kind of has their moment, and we’re able to connect to them,”

The project relies on an outstanding cast, including Aubrey Plaza (Baena’s wife, who starred in his directorial debut, “Life After Beth”). She already established herself as someone who can skillfully balance genres with a fantastic performance in “Emily the Criminal. “Spine Me Round” also stars Alessandro Nivola, Molly Shannon, Zach Woods, Ayden Mayeri, Ben Sinclair, Tim Heidecker, Debby Ryan, Fred Armisen, and Lil Rey Howery

The film’s official synopsis:

In ‘Spin Me Round,’ Alison Brie stars as the manager of an Italian restaurant chain who wins the opportunity to attend the franchise’s educational immersion program in Italy. What she thought would be a romantic getaway devolves into chaos and catastrophe.

A simple business trip becomes something surprising in “Spin Me Round.” The film is set to debut in theaters, VOD, and streaming on AMC+ August 19. Watch the trailer below.
