‘Inside’ Trailer Willem Dafoe Is An Art Thief Trapped In A NY Penthouse When A Heist Goes Wrong

How do you escape the inescapable? An art thief is about to learn that nothing is as easy as it seems in “Inside.” The film’s emphasis focuses on a lone character — played by Willem Dafoe — who deals with isolation, fear, and unexpected dangers. It hails from writer Ben Hopkins and director Vasilis Katsoupis; this marks the filmmaker’s first fictional feature film, having previously directed the documentary “My Friend Larry Gus.”

Katsoupis, along with producer Giorgos Karnavas, were incredibly excited about star Willem Dafoe’s participation. “It’s a dream to have made this film the way we wanted to, having the privilege to work with Willem and all these amazing filmmakers that supported us,” the pair said in a joint statement.

The film gives Dafoe a chance to shine in a performance centered around the Academy Award nominee’s dramatic prowess. He comes to the project after a busy two years; in 2022 alone, the actor appeared in Robert Eggers’ Viking epic “The Northman” and Walter Hill’s bounty hunter western “Dead for a Dollar.” That’s after 2021 saw him appear in films ranging from “Nightmare Alley” to “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”

Here’s the film’s official synopsis:

INSIDE tells the story of Nemo, an art thief trapped in a New York penthouse after his heist doesn’t go as planned. Locked inside with nothing but priceless works of art, he must use all his cunning and invention to survive.
