Children are hell, and being a parent can be hellish. That’s the amusing premise of the FX comedy series “Breeders,” a bitter-sweet look at the struggles of modern parenthood starring Martin Freeman (“The Hobbit,” “Black Panther”) and Daisy Haggard (“Back to Life”). Now entering its third season, slow but steady in gaining a following, the series starts with its same central idea: Whoever said parenting was easy and how that often causes marital riffs.

“Breeders” season 3 starts with Paul (Martin Freeman) having moved out and staying at Leah’s house. He should be lonely, but the simpler life has its appeal. Meanwhile, Ally (Haggard) has her own problems with work, her early menopause and her increasingly strained relationship with her newly adolescent daughter. Gallows humor and large glasses of wine only go so far in quelling the angst. Here’s the official synopsis of season two:
Season three starts days after Season two ended, as the Worsley family reels from “Luke” (Alex Eastwood) punching his dad. “Paul” (Martin Freeman) has moved out and is staying at “Leah’s” (Stella Gonet) house. He should be lonely, but the simpler life has its appeal. Eventually, though, amends with Luke must be made. Meanwhile, “Ally” (Daisy Haggard) has her own problems – with work, her early menopause and her increasingly strained relationship with her newly adolescent daughter, “Ava” (Eve Prenelle). Gallows humor and large glasses of wine only go so far in quelling the angst…
The ten-episode season is produced by Avalon and FX Productions for FX Networks and Sky Originals. Academy Award-nominee and double Emmy Award-winner Simon Blackwell is the showrunner. “Breeders” is created by Blackwell, double Emmy Award and Directors Guild of America Award winner Chris Addison and Emmy and BAFTA-winning Martin Freeman, who also stars alongside Daisy Haggard. Executive producers are Blackwell, Addison, Freeman, Richard Allen-Turner, Rob Aslett, David Martin, Jon Thoday, Toby Welch, and Michael Wiggs.
