HBO’s Highly-Anticipated ‘House Of The Dragon’ Season 3 Aiming To Debut Next Summer

With the Emmys in the rearview, of course, we’re excited to learn what TV audiences can look forward to in 2026 and HBO‘s Casey Bloys has been sharing updates with trades, including when we can expect the third season of “The House of the Dragon,” the “Game of Thrones” spinoff that has certainly done a really great job to bring us back to the dangerous and sexy world of Westeros.

While we recently learned that the second big “Thrones” spinoff series, Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” is heading to HBO/HBO Max in January, Bloys is also alluding to “The House of the Dragon” potentially making a return early next summer, in June, as mentioned by Deadline.

2026 is quickly becoming the year of Westeros, as fans will have two shows to look forward to is certainly worth the wait after both shows have seen their respective delays. As the struggle for power continues in the third season of “House of the Dragon,” we’ll be curious to see how much further those Targaryen stories will go with multiple other spinoffs in the works, as showrunner and co-creator Ryan Condal revealed back in 2024 that “House of the Dragon” will end after the fourth season.

Looking toward the future of the franchise, we suspect that more spinoffs will attempt to replicate similar episode runs. If you’re not familiar with the source material used for “Seven Kingdoms,” it follows Sir Duncan the Tall (known in the “Fire & Ice” book saga as The Hedge Knight) as we explore his adventures in Westeros (set long before the original series) alongside his petite young cohort squire affectionately nicknamed Egg, the future king, Aegon V Targaryen.

Earlier in the year, George R.R. Martin let it slip that a second season for “Seven Kingdoms” is already in development, which bodes well for the latest series after various projects have been scrapped over the years, including the pilot for the prequel referred to as “Bloodmoon” starring Naomi Watts (from writer Jane Goldman and director S.J. Clarkson) and Kit Harrington’s Jon Snow spinoff, among others.

A feature film is also said to be happening alongside these shows, but we’re still waiting on more concrete updates on that front.
