Actor Chris Pine (“The Contractor”) is gearing up to lead “Run The Night” as he’ll play a banker on the run from the Dutch mob in Amsterdam with a hefty $10 million bounty on his head.
The news hails from Variety, who reveal the movie from Lionsgate and Hidden Pictures will be heading to the Cannes Film Market this month as the former holds worldwide rights.
“Run The Night” will be the feature directing debut of Robert Alonzo, taking a page from stunt guys who worked up the industry ladder to become mainstream directors such as Chad Stahelski, David Leitch, and Sam Hargrave. Alonzo’s impressive stunt and 2nd/splinter unit directing credits include “Deadpool,” “Star Trek,” “American Made,” “Ad Astra,” “The Batman,” “Captain America: Brave New World,” and he is currently working on “Avengers: Doomsday.”
Alex Davidson and John Glenn (“SEAL Team,” “Eagle Eye”) co-wrote the script for “Run All Night.” Glenn is also working on a new “Robin Hood” series for Lionsgate Television at MGM+.
The outlet also included the following logline:
A banker, accused of betraying the Penose (the Dutch mob), is dumped naked in the heart of Amsterdam with a $10 million bounty on his head. Hunted by the city’s most violent gangs, he must fight his way across the city by dawn to save the lives of his wife and child — a mission that reveals he was never just the money guy.
Pine has been trying to iron out a deal to return to the role of Captain Kirk in a fourth “Star Trek” film, but Paramount Pictures has been indecisive about what they want to do with that J.J. Abrams era of the franchise, as they’ve been mostly focusing on expanding the television universe. Some of Pine’s most recent feature film efforts include “Poolman,” “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves,” and Olivia Wilde‘s “Don’t Worry Darling.”
The producing team features Pine and Ian Gotler via their Barry Linen banner, Todd Lieberman and Alex Young of Hidden Pictures, Lorenzo De Maio and Evan Gelb of De Maio Entertainment, and Glenn.
We can’t wait to see what the supporting cast ends up looking like, as they’re likely to hire European actors to play the Dutch gangsters who are after his character.
