‘Ash’ Trailer: Eiza González & Aaron Paul Star In Flying Lotus’ New Sci-Fi Thriller

If the name Steven D. Bingley-Ellison doesn’t sound familiar, well, Bingley-Ellison is also the Grammy-winning American record producer, DJ, filmmaker, and rapper known as Flying Lotus. Lotus has released seven studio albums, but he actually attended the Los Angeles Film School and Academy of Art University, and he’s putting his film degree to good use with his latest cinematic effort, “Ash.”

“Ash” is an upcoming science fiction thriller film in which a woman wakes up on a distant planet to find that the crew of her space station has been killed. She must decide if she can trust the man sent to rescue her.

Starring Eiza González (“Baby Driver,”3 Body Problem”), Aaron Paul (“Breaking Bad,” “Westworld”), Iko Uwais (“The Raid,” “The Night Comes For Us”), Beulah Koale (“Next Goal Wins”), and Kate Elliott (“Wentworth”), “Ash” is also executive produced by Neill Blomkamp.

Lotus himself also has a role in the film, and “Jonni Remmler wrote the film. As you might expect, the film will also feature an original score composed by the director/musician, whose previous films include the Shudder Original “Kuso” and a segment in “V/H/S/99.” 

RLJE Films will release “ASH” wide theatrically, and Shudder will stream the film in 2025. “Ash” was produced and financed by XYZ Films in conjunction with IPR.VC, and tonight at New York Comic Con, a new trailer was released.

Here’s the official synopsis:

On the mysterious planet of Ash, Riya (González) awakens to find her crew slaughtered. When a man named Brion (Paul) arrives to rescue her, an ordeal of psychological and physical terror ensues while Riya and Brion must decide if they can trust one another to survive.

 From Grammy Award Winner Flying Lotus (a.k.a. Steven Ellison) comes his sophomore feature film ASH.

“Ash” will arrive sometime next year. Watch the first trailer below.
