'Bodies Bodies Bodies' Trailer: There Are No Safe Spaces In A24's New Gen-Z-Is-The-Worst Horror

It’s hard to resist a clever, well-made generational-skewering satire and the A24 horror “Bodies Bodies Bodies” really seems to fit the bill. The English-language directorial debut of Dutch filmmaker/actress Halina Reijn (“Instinct,” “Black Book”), “Bodies Bodies Bodies” debuted at the SXSW Film Festival earlier this year and appeared to be a massive hit.

Our review from SXSW breaks it down well. “Set in a remote mansion during a coke-fueled hurricane party gone awry, the film follows a group of wealthy friends with lots of baggage over one fateful, deadly night. Economically shot and brilliantly cast, the film is a scathing critique of feigned friendships and the vapid excess of bored rich kids.”

By all accounts, it’s a real bayonetting of Gen-Z, the TikTok generation and shallow, wealthy youth and the crazy shit they get up to.

Plus, the film has quite the cast with several up-and-comers. The film stars Amandla Stenberg (2018’s “The Hate U Give”), Academy Award nominee Maria Bakalova (“Borat Subsequent Moviefilm”), Myha’la Herrold (“Industry”), Chase Sui Wonders (“Generation”), and Rachel Sennott (“Shiva Baby”), with Lee Pace and Pete Davidson rounding out the cast.

Here’s the official synopsis:

When a group of rich 20-somethings plan a hurricane party at a remote family mansion, a party game goes awry in this fresh and funny look at backstabbing, fake friends, and one party gone very, very wrong.

Featuring an original song from Charli XCX, “Bodies Bodies Bodies” will be released theatrically on August 5, 2022. Watch the first trailer below.
