Marvel & Netflix Announce 'Daredevil' Season 3; Reveal 'Defenders' & 'Luke Cage' Teasers [Watch]

Comic-Con sometimes ends up being a content dump; studios often hock their wares and deliver the goods with announcements and teasers. Marvel films is so enormous at this point, the studio doesn’t need to move a muscle if they don’t want to, but Marvel TV on Netflix, arguably the lesser of the MCU family, took a different approach this evening.

Tonight, during the first-ever Netflix and Marvel San Diego Comic-Con panel, the companies dropped some of the goods, including the announcement of an official third season of “Daredevil,” a “Luke Cage” teaser, and another quick teaser trailer for “The Defenders”— the main team the Netflix shows are gearing towards with Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage and eventually Iron Fist. That latter teaser is short, but there is one interesting reveal: Stick from the Daredevil series (played by Scott Glenn) is heard talking to the quartet, saying, “You want to save New York? You can barely save yourselves.” Perhaps he’s going to be the Professor X like leader of the team.

While the “Luke Cage” show was the meat of the panel— the entire cast was in attendance—the presentation also included a surprise appearance by Jon Bernthal (“The Punisher”) and a quick flash of the new logo for his spin-off shows (no dates, showrunners named yet). Lastly, the evening also unveiled a surprise video by Finn Jones, who plays Danny Rand in the upcoming Marvel’s Iron Fist and a first look at the series (it’s not online yet, but possibly soon. Update: Ok. the “Iron Fist” teaser is here. That was quick).

Marvel’s “Luke Cage,” the next show from the series with an official date, premieres globally on September 30, 2016 at 12:01am PT. Watch the Netflix teasers below.
