For years it seems, filmmaker Guillermo del Toro (“Pan’s Labyrinth,” “Nightmare Alley“) has been talking up making his own version of “Pinocchio.” After many years of laboring on the project, the stop-motion musical directed by del Toro and Mark Gustafson is finally coming to life.

Many of GDT’s friends and collaborators also feature in what is quite the voice cast, including Gregory Mann, Ewan McGregor, David Bradley, Tilda Swinton, Christoph Waltz, Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson, and Burn Gorman. Here’s the official synopsis:

Directed by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson, the film features an all-star voice cast with Ewan McGregor as Cricket, David Bradley as Geppetto, and introducing Gregory Mann as Pinocchio. While no specific date has been given, Netflix says the film arrives in December and has released the official teaser for the movie, which you can watch below.
