'Mayor Of Kingstown' Trailer: Jeremy Renner Rules Another Family Crime Dynasty For Taylor Sheridan

Streaming platforms try and coax major creators on their platforms with a lot of money and carte-blanche creative freedom. That’s how Paramount and Paramount+ have hooked writer, creator, director, producer Taylor Sheridan, the auteur of the Midwest. After a string of massively successful movies he wrote (“Sicario,” the Academy Award-nominated “Hell or High Water”), Sheridan transitioned to directing (“Wind River”), before creating his own massively successful franchise on Paramount+, the Emmy-nominated “Yellowstone” with Kevin Costner and a rich cast of character actors. With “Yellowstone” about to hit its fourth season and a prequel on the way, Sheridan is expanding his Paramount+ empire to include “The Mayor Of Kingstown.”

No, it’s not a “Mare Of Easttown” spin-off, but it is another prestige-like series with a major star, this time Jeremy Renner, who already starred in Sheridan’s aforementioned Midwestern crime thriller “Wind River.” “Yellowstone” has shown that Sheridan knows how to create stories of family dynasties and power—essentially, “The Godfather” in the mountains with cowboys—and “Mayor of Kingstown” looks like a similar-ish story about family empires, power, control, and crime, this time, set within the world of the corrupt prison industrial complex.

“Mayor of Kingstown” follows the McLusky family, power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan, where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption, and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither.

Co-created by Sheridan and actor/writer/producer Hugh Dillon, the 10-episode season will premiere on Sunday, November 14. Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, the all-star cast includes Academy Award nominee Jeremy Renner, Academy Award winner Dianne Wiest, Emmy Award winner Kyle Chandler, Dillon, Taylor Handley, Emma Laird, and Tobi Bamtefa. “Mayor of Kingstown” will be executive produced by Sheridan, Dillon, Jeremy Renner, Antoine Fuqua, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, and Michael Friedman.

We’ve already seen a teaser for the show, but now Paramount+ has released the full official trailer. “Mayor of Kingstown” premieres Sunday, November 14, 2021, on Paramount+. Watch the full trailer below.
