The power of belief takes center stage once again in “I Can Only Imagine 2,” the follow-up to the 2018 hit faith-based drama about MercyMe frontman Bart Millard. The sequel reunites John Michael Finley as Millard. It introduces Milo Ventimiglia, Sophie Skelton, Arielle Kebbel, Sammy Dell, Trace Adkins, and Dennis Quaid in a new story about grace, forgiveness, and the fragile balance between fame and family.

Set after the breakout success of the band’s chart-topping anthem “I Can Only Imagine,” the film follows Bart as he navigates the pressures of stardom. At the same time, his unresolved past threatens to unravel the family he’s built. When Tim Timmons, a hopeful newcomer played by Ventimiglia, joins MercyMe for their biggest tour yet, his friendship brings unexpected healing — and forces Bart to confront the wounds that fame can’t hide.
As Bart begins to see parallels between his own journey and Tim’s struggles, he realizes that success means little without reconciliation. The story culminates in a powerful reckoning of faith and forgiveness, anchored by the band’s real-life hit “Even If.”
With heartfelt performances and themes of redemption and resilience, “I Can Only Imagine 2” continues the spirit of the original — a story about finding light through brokenness and faith in the face of adversity.
