Las Vegas noir, family grief, and a criminal past that won’t stay buried—“He Bled Neon” is heading into SXSW with a fresh teaser and a sharp little genre package behind it. The action-thriller stars Joe Cole as Ethan, a man dragged back home after his brother’s death, with Drew Kirsch making his feature directorial debut after building his name in the music-video world, including co-directing Taylor Swift’s “You Need To Calm Down,” which won Video of the Year at the MTV VMAs.

According to SXSW’s official synopsis, Ethan returns to Las Vegas after learning his brother’s death may have been murder, only to find himself confronting the violent history he thought he’d left behind. That setup gives the film a sturdy hook right away: a homecoming story wired like a revenge picture, but shaded by family damage and underworld rot.
Cole leads a cast that also includes Marshawn Lynch, Rita Ora, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Paul Wesley, and Josh Holloway, giving the movie a lineup that blends bruiser energy with a little left-field star power. Behind the camera, the screenplay is by Tim Cairo and Jake Gibson, while Zhu and Joseph Trapanese are credited with the score—an intriguing combination for a movie already selling itself on mood, velocity, and after-hours menace.
The film will premiere in SXSW’s Narrative Spotlight section on March 16, 2026. That puts this teaser where it needs to be: the opening move in a festival launch for a Vegas-set thriller that seems built to trade in hard edges, bad memories, and neon-lit moral collapse.
