Lionsgate Announces 'John Wick 4' Moves To March 2023

Adjust your calendars people, (and maybe fix our Most Anticipted 2022 list, gah); Lionsgate has just announced that “John Wick 4,” once set for a May 27, 2022, release date, is now moving to March 24, 2023. The movie is likely due to Tom Cruise‘s “Top Gun Maverick,” which Paramount recently dropped on that same Memorial Weekend spot.

Directed by Chad Stahelski, who has a small cameo in “Matrix: Resurrections,” “John Wick 4” is another neo-noir action thriller film serving as the direct sequel to 2019’s “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.” It is once again set to star Keanu Reeves, plus many characters from the ‘John Wick’ universe played by folks like Laurence Fishburne, Lance Reddick, Ian McShane and newcomers like Donnie Yen, Rina Sawayama, Shamier Anderson, Bill Skarsgård, Scott Adkins, Hiroyuki Sanada, Clancy Brown, and more.

“John Wick 4” was initially set to be shot back to back with “John Wick 5,” but those plans changed during COVID. It is said to be the penultimate film in the franchise with “John Wick 5” as the final chapter. But many spin-offs are in the works, including the Ballerina” film with Ana De Armas and The Continental” prequel series. Now, we have to wait an extra year, but given the age of COVID and the pandemic, that’s not actually much of a surprise these days.
