‘On A Wing And A Prayer’ Trailer: Dennis Quaid & Heather Graham Land A Plane Safely Because Of Faith & Jesus

You’ve heard of single-setting thrillers, “127 Hours,” “Buried,” etc., but “On A Wing And A Prayer,” a new Prime Video film, is a bit of a twist on the genre and centers on a family on a vacation flight that turns deadly when the pilot has a heart attack and dies and the husband, a sort-of recreational flier who has a little bit of basic flying training, is tasked with safely landing the plane and rescuing his family from danger.

The film stars Dennis Quaid and Heather Graham as the married couple and Jesse Metcalfe as an air-traffic controller who has to walk Quaid’s character via radio to take over the plane and land it safely. So it’s mostly a single setting, a plane, and a miraculous tale of survival based on a true story.

Here’s the official synopsis:

In this extraordinary true story of faith and survival, ‘On a Wing and a Prayer’ follows passenger Doug White’s (Dennis Quaid) harrowing journey to safely land a plane and save his entire family from insurmountable danger after their pilot dies unexpectedly mid-flight.

Directed by Sean McNamara, the film is written by Brian Egeston and produced by Autumn Bailey-Ford, p.g.a., Roma Downey, p.g.a., and Karl Horstmann.

Soundtracked to Norman Greenbaum’s “Spirit in the Sky,” a song about Jesus, while it’s subtle throughout, the trailer does give off that higher power, faith, and Jesus vibe throughout. Fittingly, you can experience the inspirational true story on Easter weekend because, well, that part’s not subtle, hallelujah. “On A Wing And A Prayer” debuts on Prime Video on April 7, 2023.
