'Ziwe' Season 2 Trailer: The Cultural Sketch Revolution Stays Televised

Given bandwidth and the age of #TooMuchContent, we’re generally more than content to ignore the worlds of reality and sketch comedy TV, but there are exceptions to every rule, and “Ziwe” falls under that provision. Produced by A24 Films and released on Showtime (two elements of the exception), “Ziwe” is the riotously funny, new variety series from writer, comedian, cultural commentator, and internet sensation, Ziwe. The monosyllabic comedian (full name, Ziwerekoru “Ziwe” Fumudoh) came to prominence on YouTube and Instagram. Her YouTube show “Baited with Ziwe” did precisely that, baiting white friends into making racial faux pas. On Instagram, she used IG live to interview subjects like Alison Roman, Alyssa Milano, and Rose McGowan. Following the cultural blunder of internet celebrity Caroline Calloway, she appeared on Ziwe’s IG Live series and was given enough rope to totally hang herself.

“Ziwe,” the sketch show, is relatively similar to her brand of comedy with a few twists. The show is a no-holds-barred mix of musical numbers, interviews, and sketches that challenge America’s discomfort with race, politics, & other cultural issues. Here’s the synopsis of season two.

Never afraid to go there (or anywhere), ZIWE presents the hottest of hot button topics, and she’s guaranteed to touch a whole lot of nerves. Everything you’ve always wanted to know about Critical Race Theory, Gay Pride, Woke Capitalism, and more but were too uncomfortable to ask. Plus, she’s bringing plenty of musical numbers, interviews, guest stars, and hilarious sketches along for the ride.

“Ziwe” returns to Showtime on April 29. Watch the official season two trailer below.
