‘Relationship Goals’ Trailer: Kelly Rowland & Method Man Turn A Corner-Office Fight Into A Second-Chance Rom-Com

Career wins don’t usually come with an ex attached—at least not one who strolls back into your life claiming he’s been rebuilt by a bestseller and is now gunning for the same corner office. Amazon MGM releases a trailer for “Relationship Goals,” a romantic comedy that sets a glass-ceiling breakthrough on a collision course with unresolved history, messy chemistry, and a very public professional battleground.

The feature marks the feature film debut of Emmy-nominated director Linda Mendoza (“30 Rock,” “Grown-ish,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Harlem”). It stars Wu Tang Clan rapper-turned-actor Cliff “Method Man” Smith (“Poetic License,” “Bad Shabbos,” “Poker Face) opposite Kelly Rowland (“Bad Hair,” “Mea Culpa,” “Empire”). Robin Thede (“A Black Lady Sketch Show”) and Annie Gonzalez (Flamin’ Hot”) co-star.

Inspired by minister Michael Todd’s New York Times bestseller “Relationship Goals: How to Win at Dating, Marriage, and Sex,” the story centers on brilliant TV producer Leah Caldwell (Rowland) as she stands on the verge of making history as the first woman to run New York’s top morning show. That’s the clean, hard-earned trajectory—until her ex, Jarrett Roy (Smith), swoops in and competes for the exact same position.

Jarrett insists he’s changed—crediting the Relationship Goals book—and tries to turn that “new man” narrative into leverage as he and Leah battle for the same morning-show job. Leah’s friends stay open to the book’s advice, but Leah keeps her focus on shattering the glass ceiling, refusing to let his reinvention rewrite her future even as their unresolved chemistry makes the professional rivalry feel uncomfortably personal.
