'Space Force' Trailer: Steve Carell Wants Boots On The Moon In His New Comedy Series

The term Space Force can be a little confusing at the moment given some absurdist real-life moments that shouldn’t be confused with absurdist moments on TV.  “Space Force,” the upcoming show on Netflix from Steve Carell, should not be mistaken with Space Force the U.S. military effort from President Trump. One is a seemingly hilarious TV show about afour-star general who begrudgingly teams up with an eccentric scientist to get the U.S. military’s newest agency — Space Force — off the ground. The other is the hilarious timed and inept distracting effort rolled out by the president in the middle of a pandemic that has killed over 90,000 Americans. But you can understand why the absolute comedy of it all can be confused.

A decorated pilot with dreams of running the Air Force, four-star general Mark R. Naird (Steve Carell) is thrown for a loop when he finds himself tapped to lead the newly formed sixth branch of the US Armed Forces: Space Force. Skeptical but dedicated, Mark uproots his family and moves to a remote base in Colorado where he and a colorful team of scientists and “Spacemen” are tasked by the White House with getting American boots on the moon (again) in a hurry and achieving total space dominance. From co-creators Carell and Greg Daniels (The Office), SPACE FORCE is a new kind of workplace comedy, where the stakes are sky high and the ambitions even higher. John Malkovich, Diana Silvers, Tawny Newsome, Ben Schwartz also star, alongside co-stars Lisa Kudrow, Jimmy O. Yang, Noah Emmerich, Alex Sparrow and Don Lake.
