'Under The Banner Of Heaven' Trailer: Andrew Garfield & Daisy Edgar-Jones Star In A New Faith-Based Thriller Series Coming In April

It’s undeniable, Andrew Garfield is having a serious moment. Coming off an Oscar nomination for “tick, tick…BOOM!” and his appearance in “Spider-Man: No Way Home”— a part so beloved people are demanding that the actor get to finish out his ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy and or join Sony’s Spiderverse—Garfield feels like he’s bigger than ever these days. And so thus the timing is pretty sweet for “Under The Banner Of Heaven,” a new FX limited series about a murder based on a popular, true-crime best-seller.

From Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black (“Milk”), “Under The Banner Of Heaven” goes beyond just a murder. The series stars Garfield, plus up-and-coming star Daisy Edgar-Jones (“Normal People”). The series also features, Sam Worthington, Denise Gough, Wyatt Russell, Billy Howle, Gil Birmingham, Adelaide Clemens, and Rory Culkin among many others. Here’s the official synopsis, but in short, the faith of a Mormon police detective is shaken when investigating the murder of a woman that seems to involve the Church.

“Under the Banner of Heaven” is an original limited series inspired by the true-crime bestseller by Jon Krakauer, which follows the events that led to the 1984 murder of Brenda Wright Lafferty and her baby daughter in a suburb in the Salt Lake Valley, Utah. As Detective Jeb Pyre investigates events that transpired within the Lafferty family, he uncovers buried truths about the origins of the LDS religion and the violent consequences of unyielding faith. What Pyre, a devout Mormon, unearths leads him to question his own faith.
