British filmmaker Emerald Fennell (“Promising Young Woman,” “Saltburn”) is back with her new reimagining of the classic romance tale of “Wuthering Heights,” based on the beloved novel from author Emily Brontë (what obviously inspired modern projects like “Bridgerton“). The highly anticipated love story stars Margot Robbie (also produces via LuckChap) and Jacob Elordi (“Saltburn,” “Frankenstein”) with other actors such as Hong Chau, Shazad Latif, Alison Oliver, Martin Clunes, and Ewan Mitchell in supporting roles (singer turned actress Charli xcx of “The Moment” also appears).
With that, the movie is arriving soon, and a wave of first reactions for “Wuthering Heights” has made its way online, and you can read a rundown of those impressions, many positive, below:
Emerald Fennell’s #WutheringHeightsMovie is a god-tier new classic. Intoxicating, transcendent, tantalizing, bewitching, lust worthy, hypnotic. Expertly captures the breathtaking ache & essence of desire. Sandgren’s cinematography, spellbinding. Davies’ production design, sublime pic.twitter.com/LKkq6eRjNJ

Breathtaking cinematography, production design, and score, with two incredible performances from Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi.
Steamy, emotional, and captivating. pic.twitter.com/u22RfqnLix
I won’t speak on source fidelity. But as a film, #WutheringHeights rocks. A large-scale retelling of a small(er)-scale melodrama, with all the big-budget production value and cinematic style value we once took for granted, it works on its own terms as a nuanced romantic tragedy. pic.twitter.com/Mu2BxboT3w

Embargo up? This is not the #WutheringHeights you read in school, and you’re either going to love it or hate it…and I loved it. Potentially my favourite performance from Jacob Elordi, definitely makes the top 3 for Margot but what made me stand up to attention was the score and… pic.twitter.com/aK6MRmvuum

#WutheringHeights is the first hit movie of 2026. Emerald Fennell turned this classic into a completely twisted, sexual, soul-destroying story. Robbie and Elordi's chemistry is on another level. The costumes, cinematography, and production design are absolutely breathtaking. pic.twitter.com/P9hyuo4XJc

"WUTHERING HEIGHTS": Solid! Margot and Jacob are explosive together. Their chemistry leaps off the screen. The craft on display is top-notch. A tad too long, but I was thorougly entertained. And yeah it's hot. It's horny.#WutheringHeights #WutheringHeightsMovie pic.twitter.com/APbHjrPpYY

I was slightly sceptical about #WutheringHeights but it’s spectacular. Laced with desire, it’s bewitching to behold, a homage to the greatest love story ever told and something reimagined in an exquisitely rich way. Bold, visceral and earth-shatteringly tragic, it’s a triumph. pic.twitter.com/cHcEyvDHoW

#WutheringHeights is a beautiful mess of passion, destruction, lust, revenge & unhinged behavior. Throw the book away & step into the madness of undeniable chemistry & explosive toxic desire. Margot Robbie & Jacob Elordi are enthralling. #WutheringHeightsMovie movie is exquisite pic.twitter.com/ZIK4ODhMAC

Warner Bros. is providing the following brief logline of the latest iteration:
A bold and original imagining of one of the greatest love stories of all time, Emerald Fennell’s “Wuthering Heights” stars Margot Robbie as Cathy and Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff, whose forbidden passion for one another turns from romantic to intoxicating in an epic tale of lust, love, and madness.
While many have shared their excitement for “Wuthering Heights,” Fennell’s reimaging has seen some minor backlash toward the casting, as Heathcliff, in the novel, is alluded to as being a foreigner (some saying it was a miscast as his ancestry not exactly spelled out but is described as “dark-skinned gipsy in aspect”), and another nagging issue is the young lovelorn characters are supposed to be teenagers in the book (Robbie 35 and Elordi 28).
“Wuthering Heights” has a fitting release date of February 13, just in time for Valentine’s Day, and internationally a tad early on February 11.
