Marvel Television and Marvel Animation took over the Empire Stage at New York Comic Con to reveal major updates for two of their most anticipated Disney+ series — confirming that “X-Men ’97” has been renewed for Season 3, with Season 2 slated for summer 2026, and that “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” will return in fall 2026

The announcement came during a presentation hosted by Phase Hero’s Brandon Davis and led by Brad Winderbaum, Head of Marvel Television and Marvel Animation, who was joined by special guests from across the Marvel multiverse. Fans were treated to exclusive footage from both shows, as well as several crowd-pleasing reveals.
For “X-Men ’97,” Winderbaum brought out Eric and Julia Lewald, the original writers of the 1990s X-Men: The Animated Series, alongside original director Larry Houston, all of whom will serve as executive producers for the upcoming season. The next chapter will expand the mutant roster and scale up the series’ action sequences, while also delving deeper into morally complex storylines and character-driven drama. The renewal for Season 3 highlights Marvel Animation’s confidence in the show’s success — a continuation fueled by critical acclaim and strong streaming performance for its debut season.
Meanwhile, Winderbaum also unveiled an explosive first look at “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” Season 2, teasing a darker, more expansive story for Peter Parker. The new season will introduce the Venom symbiote, Gwen Stacy, and even bring back Charlie Cox’s Daredevil. It also features the returns of Norman and Harry Osborn, classic villains like Doctor Octopus, Chameleon, and Scorpion, and the emergence of Nico Minoru’s magical powers — all while deepening Peter’s struggle to balance his identity, responsibility, and relationships. The Comic Con footage hinted at a season where every choice tightens the web around Spider-Man, pulling him closer to the edge than ever before.
With “X-Men ’97” officially continuing into a third season and “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” expanding its mythos in bold new directions, Marvel Animation is deepening its corner of the MCU with storytelling that’s both nostalgic and forward-looking.
Both “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” and “X-Men ’97” premiere exclusively on Disney+ in 2026.
