Developed by Emma Barrie and executive produced by Aida Rodgers, Max Silvestri, and Lorene Scafaria, “I Love LA” follows Maia, a writer and comedian, as she navigates her late twenties in Los Angeles, grappling with fractured relationships and creative burnout.
In a recent New York Times interview, Sennott said, “I always enjoy being messy,” a perspective that runs through the trailer and the show’s premise — exploring how self-awareness collides with denial in the lives of people who think they’re figuring it out.
The ensemble cast includes Jordan Firstman, Odessa A’zion, True Whitaker, and Josh Hutcherson, who play Maia’s circle of friends as they navigate careers, heartbreak, and the kind of emotional contradictions only Los Angeles can sustain. Sennott, who broke through in “Shiva Baby” and “Bottoms,” described the show as “about the versions of ourselves that stop working when we start paying attention.”
“I Love LA” premieres November 2 on HBO and HBO Max, with eight episodes rolling out weekly through December 21. Scafaria directs several episodes alongside Sennott.
