‘Hijack’ Season 2 Teaser: Idris Elba’s High-Stakes Thriller Returns To Apple TV With A Deadly Underground Crisis

Apple TV has released the first trailer for “Hijack: Season 2,” the pulse-pounding thriller starring and executive produced by Idris Elba, which returns with a brand-new hostage crisis that shifts the action from the skies to the Berlin underground. The eight-episode second season premieres globally on January 14, 2026, with the first two episodes, followed by new installments every Wednesday through February 25.

Created by George Kay (“Lupin,” “Criminal”) and Jim Field Smith (“Criminal,” “Litvinenko”), the new season finds Sam Nelson (Elba) thrust into another impossible situation when a Berlin train and its passengers are taken hostage. As authorities scramble to respond, Nelson is caught in the middle — where one wrong move could turn rescue into catastrophe.

“Hijack” reunites much of its acclaimed ensemble, including Christine Adams, Max Beesley, and Archie Panjabi, alongside new cast members Christian Näthe, Clare-Hope Ashitey, Lisa Vicari, Toby Jones, Karima McAdams, and Christiane Paul. The series is produced by 60Forty Films and Idiotlamp Productions, with executive producers Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Tom Nash, George Kay, and Jim Field Smith, who also directs.

Following its breakout first season — which earned critical acclaim, a Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and a Primetime Emmy nomination for Elba — “Hijack” returns as one of Apple TV’s flagship thrillers. The first season was lauded as “a shot of pure adrenaline” and “instantly enthralling,” with critics praising Elba’s commanding performance and the show’s relentless tension.
