What’s next for James Gunn’s DC Studios that we don’t yet know about? Potentially a lot. While the writer/director and co-CEO of the studio said certain projects like “Waller,” “Booster Gold,” and “Batman: The Brave & The Bold” aren’t ready to be greenlit yet, he’s already said that only half of the Gods and Monsters first phase of DC has been revealed.
The filmmaker, who is also finishing up “Superman” for summer 2025, also said in a new interview with Happy Sad Confused that Gunn has four potential scripts to write next for DC Studios after that blockbuster is done.
But there’s more. Asked if Gunn has cast certain actors in parts that aren’t public yet, and he immediately said yes. And then asked if he’s cast any members of “The Guardians Of The Galaxy” ensemble in the DCU he also said yes.
“Like actually signed contracts cast or? Yeah, we’ve had real talks, yes,” he said about conversations he’s had with his ‘Guardians’ mates about joining the MCU.
Gunn would not comment about the “Bane & Deathstroke” project, but he did say that Dave Bautista wanted to play the Batman villain Bane at one point, but that may not be the case anymore.
“I don’t know if Dave wants to be Bane anymore, he used to want to be Bane, but I think Dave would rather be any other character than Bane right now, “Gunn said, suggesting that the actor’s slimmed down on purpose and doesn’t want to keep exhausting himself putting on massive bulk for roles. “I think that’s probably the case, so of course, I love Dave and want to work with him again, but I’m not sure he wants to [play that character] anymore.”
