'Trust': Kate Winslet To Star In, Produce New HBO Limited Series

When Kate Winslet teams up with HBO on a limited series, magical things happen. Or at least that’s what’s happened the last two times. Last year’s “Mare Of Easttown” and 2011’s “Mildred Pierce” both notched Winslet a pair of Emmy wins for Best Actress In A Limited Series. And they’re both excellent series beyond Winslet’s performances, which makes a potential third collab between the actress and HBO much more exciting.

And that’s what Winslet wants to do. The Hollywood Reporter reports that the actress will star in and produce “Trust,” a new miniseries in development at HBO. The series is based on Hernan Diaz‘s best-selling novel of the same name, released this May by Riverhead Books. Diaz’s novel unfolds from four different perspectives in four distinct genres, so this series could end up the most experimental of Winslet’s three HBO series.

As for the plot, the series will follow a wealthy financier who reads a novel based on his life and gets upset at the portrayal of him and his wife. In retaliation, he hires a secretary to ghostwrite a memoir to set the record straight. The secretary soon realizes the financier wants to rewrite history, as well as his wife’s place in it.

Both Winslet and Diaz will serve as executive producers on “Trust.” As the project just started development, there’s no word on additional cast and crew members.

Winslet starts production soon on “Lee,” a biopic based on the life of photographer Lee Miller, of which she’s also a producer. She’ll also appear in James Cameron‘s mega-franchise sequel, “Avatar: The Way Of Water,” out this December.

More Kate Winslet on HBO? We honestly cannot wait for this, so fingers crossed that “Trust” goes to series.
