Anthony Mackie will be busy later this year when “Avengers: Doomsday” hits theaters. But his next onscreen performance before then? He plays second fiddle to Aiysha Hart in “Desert Warrior,” a new historical adventure film from “The Gamble” director Rupert Waytt.

Set in 7th-century Arabia, Mackie plays a legendary bandit who takes Hart’s princess under his wing, training her as a lethal warrior who leads desert tribes against the emperor who seeked to make her his concubine.

Set in seventh-century Arabia, Princess Hind defies her fate, refusing to become a concubine to the ruthless Emperor Kisra. Along with Mackie and Hart, “Desert Warrior” strars Ghassan Massoud, Sharlto Copley, and Sir Ben Kingsley.
Wyatt directs “Desert Warrior,” and pens the film’s script with Erica Beeney and David Self. Producers on the film include MBC Studios, Jeremy Bolt, and Rasha AIEmam.
