As “28 Years Later” fans await a definitive answer on whether or not Danny Boyle will make a trilogy-capping third film, the UK director started shooting another new project in London this week. And Studiocanal has a new first-look image for “Ink” ahead of next week’s AFM, where a hunt for a distributor begins.
Based on the Tony-nominated 2017 play by James Graham, Boyle’s latest tackles the late 1960s British newspaper rivalry between The Sun and its parent paper, The Mirror, and the beginnings of Rupert Murdoch‘s controversial media empire. The press release describes the film as an “explosive cinematic rollercoaster about a group of visionaries and misfits who had an idea for a new kind of news – one that would give the people what they want and would change the face of the world we live in today.”
Jack O’Connell, pictured in the first-look image for the film, stars as The Sun editor Larry Lamb, with Guy Pearce as Murdoch, and Claire Foy as Jules Davies. Graham adapts his play for Boyle’s film, with Tess Ross and Michael Ellenberg producing alongside Boyle with Tracey Seaward. Tonia Davis serves as executive producer. Studiocanal fully finances the pic.
Filming on “Ink” is underway, so expect it to hit theaters sometime in 2026. Take a look at the first-look pic for the film below.
