What’s Daniel Kaluuya up to next? Well, his long-gestating “Barnie” movie is still in the pipeline somewhere, but not emerging anytime soon. And whether the actor shows up in Jordan Peele‘s next flick remains to be seen, but that project was yanked from its October 2026 release date by Universal last Fall. So what’s the bet bet for Kaluuya’s big screen return?
According to Deadline, it may be “Hotel Hotel Hotel Hotel,” the next film of “Together” director Michael Shanks. Kaluuya is in talks to star in the sci-fi pic, about a man who wakes up trapped in a mysterious, mind-bending hotel room and vows to escape. A24 will finance the pic from a screenplay Shanks wrote that first appeared on the Hollywood Black List in 2021.
Producers on the project include Mike Cowap and Emma Fitzsimmons of Princess Pictures, and Adam McKay and Todd Schulman of HyperObject Industries. It’s worth noting that Princess Pictures produced Shanks’ debut “Together,” which NEON released in theaters after its buzzy premiere at Sundance 2025. The body-horror film got positive marks from critics but was only a modest box office success.
But back to Kaluuya, who remains hyper-selective on the projects he works on. Since he won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for “Judas And The Black Messiah” in 2022, the British actor has only starred in Peele’s 2022 UAP pic “NOPE,” provided voice work for “Spider-Man: Across The Spider Verse” in 2023, and co-wrote/directed “The Kitchen,” which landed on Prime Video the same year. “Beyond The Spider Verse” will hit theaters in Summer 2027 (if it isn’t delayed again), so does that make “Hotel Hotel Hotel Hotel” Kaluuya’s next onscreen role? Chris Rock‘s “Misty Green,” another A24 pic Kaluuya stars in, should arrive before Shanks’ film, but we’ll see what happens.
Stay tuned for more details about “Hotel Hotel Hotel Hotel” as they arrive.
