SXSW 2026 is still about four months away, but it’s not too soon for the fest to announce its opening night film. And the next edition of SXSW kicks off in a big way, with Boots Riley‘s highly anticipated follow-up to his 2018 cult film, “Sorry To Bother You.”
That’s right, “I Love Boosters” kicks off SXSW 2026 next year, ahead of NEON dropping the film in theaters on May 22, 2026. The film follows a group of shoplifter who decide to target a cutthroat fashion maven; in other words, expect the same zany and absurd dark comedy that made “Sorry To Bother You” so memorable.
It’s not just the premise of “I Love Boosters” that should excite SXSW-goers, it’s also the movie’s main cast. Kiki Palmer leads the ensemble, pictured in a new image from the film below, alongside Demi Moore, Naomi Ackie, Taylor Paige, and “Sorry To Bother You” star LaKeith Stanfield. Eiza González, Will Poulter, Poppy Liu, and Kerris Dorsey round out the cast sheet.
“I Love Boosters” is Riley’s first film/TV work since his 2023 Prime Video series “I’m A Virgo“; that show also premiered at SXSW that year. Now Riley returns to headline next year’s fest, whose scope and size only get more culturally relevant each year. So what else will join Riley’s latest on the SXSW 2026 schedule? Expect a rollout of titles after the new year begins.
As noted earlier, ‘I Love Boosters” hits theaters on May 22, 2026, courtesy of NEON.
