‘Stranger Things: Tales From ’85’ Trailer: Return To Hawkins In Netflix’s Upcoming Animated Series On April 23

The original “Stranger Things” may be over, but Netflix‘s plans for the franchise are just getting started. And while the Duffer Brothersplanned spinoff featuring all-new characters is still a ways away, Stranger Things: Tales From ’85,” an animated series based on the original group from Hawkins, Indiana, premieres on the streamer next month. No original cast members return for the show, but a new “Stranger Things” adventure is still cause for excitement, right?

Set in the winter between Seasons 2 and 3, “Tales From ’85,” sees the young Hawkins heroes face a terrifying new threat. But where is it coming from — the Upside Down, Hawkins Lab, or somewhere else?

Here’s an official synopsis for “Stranger Things: Tales From ’85,” courtesy of Netflix:

Return to Hawkins with Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, an exciting new animated series from showrunner Eric Robles and executive producers the Duffer Brothers. In the winter of 1985, snow blankets the town and the horrors of the Upside Down are finally fading. Our heroes Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max have settled back into a normal life of D&D, snowball fights, and quiet days. But beneath the ice, something terrifying has awakened. Could it be from the Upside Down? From the depths of Hawkins Lab? Or from somewhere else entirely? Our heroes must race to solve this mystery and save Hawkins in this new story set in the Stranger Things universe.

Voice cast for “Tales From ’85” includes Brooklyn Davey Norstedt, Jolie Hoang Rappaport, Luca Diaz, Elisha “EJ” Williams, Braxton Quinney, Ben Plessala, Brett Gipson, Odessa A’zion, Jeremy Jordan, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips. Additional cast includes Robert Englund, Alysia Reiner, Allexandra Antonelli, Valeria Rodriguez, and Jack Griffo.

Eric Robles serves as showrunner and executive producer on “Tales From ’85.” Matt and Ross Duffer also executive produce the series with Hilary Leavett via Upside Down Pictures, as does Shawn Levy via 21 Laps, and Dan Cohen. The series is a Flying Bark production.
