At this point in his career, John Travolta is coasting, mostly making direct-to-video movies as his stardom fades into twilight. But here’s a big surprise. The actor has a new and, until now, secret project on the way this Spring to go along with his additional four film roles this year, and it’ll have its world premiere at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.
Travolta will be on the Croisette in May with his directorial debut “Propeller One-Way Night Coach,” an adaptation of the 1997 children’s book also written by the actor. Apple Original Films announced the film and its presentation in the “Cannes Premiere” section of the festival this morning. After its red carpet premiere at Cannes, the feature will stream exclusively on Apple TV+ starting on May 29.
Inspired by Travolta’s childhood memories, “Propeller One-Way Night Coach” is a nostalgic journey set in the golden age of aviation. Here’s an official synopsis for the film, courtesy of Apple Original Films:
Set in the golden age of aviation, a young airplane enthusiast Jeff (played by newcomer Clark Shotwell) and his mother (Kelly Eviston-Quinnett) set off on a one-way cross country odyssey to Hollywood, which transforms a simple flight into the trip of a lifetime. Between airline meals, charming flight attendants (played by Ella Bleu Travolta and Olga Hoffman), unexpected stopovers, larger-than-life passengers, and a thrilling glimpse at first class, the journey unfolds in moments both magical and unexpected, charting the course for the boy’s future.
Cast for Travolta’s film includes Clark Shotwell, Kelly Viston-Quinnett, Olga Hoffman, Ella Bleu Travolta, and Travolta.
Travolta also produces “Propeller One-Way Night Coach” via JTP Productions, with Jason Berger and Amy Laslett also produced via Kids At Play.
As noted earlier, “Propeller One-Way Night Coach” will stream only on Apple TV+ on May 29 after its Cannes world premiere. Take a look at a first-look image from Travolta’s film below, and stay tuned the exact date of its premiere at the festival in May.
