With “Stranger Things” coming to an end, Netflix is on the lookout for a new flagship show to anchor the streamer in the upcoming couple of years. Is “The Night Agent” an ideal candidate? Perhaps not, but it’s one of Netflix’s most-viewed original series since its 2023 premiere, and the show’s critical reception trended upward from S1 to S2.
That at least makes “The Night Agent” S3 not an anchor, but at least a cornerstone, for the future of Netflix’s streaming shows. And the new teaser for the show’s new season indicates another high-octane batch of episodes, with spy Peter Sutherland tasked in tracking down a missing Treasury agent, whose trail leads him to a dark money network also flush with buried government secrets.
Here’s an official synopsis for “The Night Agent” S3, courtesy of Netflix:
Coming off the explosive events of Season Two, Night Agent Peter Sutherland is called in to track down a young Treasury Agent who fled to Istanbul with sensitive government intel after killing his boss. This kicks off a sequence of events where Peter investigates a dark money network while avoiding its paid assassins, while putting him on a collision course with a relentless journalist. Working together, they uncover buried secrets and old grudges that threaten to bring the government to its knees — and get them both killed in the process.
“The Night Agent” stars Gabriel Basso, Louis Herthum, Stephen Moyer, Callum Vinson, David Lyons, Fola Evan-Akingbola, Jennifer Morrison, Albert Jones, Ward Horton, and Genesis Rodriguez.
