‘Heart Of The Beast’: Paramount Dates David Ayer’s Survival Thriller Starring Brad Pitt For September 25 Theatrical Release

Brad Pitt has three films hitting theaters this year, all of which lack a release date: David Ayer‘s “Heart Of The Beast,” David Fincher‘s “The Adventures Of Cliff Booth,” and Edward Berger‘s “The Riders.” That is, until now.

Deadline reports that Paramount has now dated “Heart Of The Beast” for a September 25 theatrical release. That pits the Ayer’s survival thriller against DreamWorks movie “Forgotten Island,” starring Dave Franco and Jennifer Slate, as well as the re-release of “Avengers: Endgame.” Should Pitt’s still-powerful stardom fend off those adversaries? That’s a safe bet.

Also starring J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe, “Heart Of The Beast” follows Pitt as a former Army Special Forces soldier and his retired combat dog as they fight for survival after a plane crash deep in the Alaskan wilderness. It’s Ayer and Pitt’s first team-up since 2014’s WWII drama “Fury,” and the actor’s first film in theaters since last year’s blockbuster, “F1.”

Moviegoers will remember “Fury” as a high-water mark for Ayer as a director, and he’s struggled to rediscover that film’s critical and commercial success since then. That’s in no small part due to Ayer’s experience on 2016’s “Suicide Squad,” a film he’s since renounced. Still, recent B-actioners from Ayer starring Jason Statham, “The Beekeeper” and “A Working Man ” helped the director find his footing in Hollywood again, sparking this reunion with Pitt.

Cameron Alexander pens the script for “Heart Of The Beast,” with Pitt and Ayer co-producing with Marty Bowen and Olivia Hamilton (Damien Chazelle‘s wife and creative partner). Ayer shot the film in New Zealand early last year, with a teaser for the thriller hitting CinemaCon this April.

Will “Heart Of The Beast” be the biggest of the three upcoming 2026 Brad Pitt vehicles? It’s wiser to choose Fincher’s “Cliff Booth” in that race, but all signs point to the actor’s reunion with Ayer being a smash hit. Audience will find out for themselves when the film hits theaters this Fall.

Stay tuned for a teaser for “Heart Of The Beast” in the coming weeks.
