Phoebe Dynevor has several film projects on the way, including the recently delayed M. Night Shyamalan movie “Remain.” Add “Beach Read” to that list, as Deadline reports the “Bridgerton” alum will star in 20th Century Studios‘ adaptation of Emily Henry‘s 2020 bestselling novel.
Unlike the rest of Dynevor’s upcoming films, “Beach Read” isn’t a thriller but instead a straightforward romantic comedy. The actress will star in the film as January Andrews, a romance novelist caught in a writer’s block after her father’s death reveals secrets he had long kept hidden. Then a chance meet-up with college rival Gus Everett, another novelist, complicates staying at Dad’s Michigan beach house for the summer. Stuck in similar creative ruts, the January and Gus agree to a writing challenge over the summer, swapping genres while promising things won’t get romantic, but it’s obvious from this set-up where things will go.
“People We Meet On Vacation” co-writer Yulin Kuang will direct “Beach Read,” and also adapt Henry’s novel for the screenplay. Neal H. Moritz produces via Original Films, with Karina Rahardja on board to executive produce, and Sarah Shepard and Catherine Hughes overseeing for 20th Century.
Dynevor’s 2025 included the Lionsgate” film “Anniversary” and the spy thriller “Inheritance.” 2026 may see three of her films reach audiences: the Netflix survival thriller “Shiver,” the A24 thriller “Famous,” and “Pendulum,” another thriller. As for Shyamalan’s “Remain,” Warner Bros. bumped it from a October 23 theatrical release to February 5, 2027 last month. Other notable roles for Dynevor include Chloe Dumont‘s 2023 feature directorial debut “Fair Play.”
Stay tuned for more details on “Beach Read,” which should get a 2027 theatrical release.
